My Lean Body Mass…
So I have my body fat tested today by a professional. Usually I take it myself with my Omron Body Fat Tester. I did that this morning and it read 20% BF. At the gym, it was 23%. Either way, I was disappointed. I really wanted to see something lower than 20%. If you look at the body fat chart, I am still in the ‘Good’ range.
If you want to really get technical, we can look at my lean body mass is. “What is lean body mass?” you might be asking. Your lean body mass is simply an estimation of how much you weigh without the body fat - how much your bones, organs and muscles weigh.
Here is the equation to figure out LBM:
Lean Body Mass = Totaly bodyweight -body fat in lbs.
Here is my calculation:
My weight is 125 and body fat is 20% (we will go with the lower one…)
125 x .20 = 25 lbs of body fat
125-25 = 120 LBM
Now when you look at it that way..it really doesn’t sound too bad!
So why would you want to know your LBM? If your weekly weigh in shows no change, it could help you to determine if you are gaining muscle and lowering your body fat, which means you are doing all things right and should keep with your same routine until your progress plateaus.
My suggestion? Get your body fat checked at least every 4-6 weeks to see how you are making progress! Check with your local gyms to see if there is someone there that can test your body fat!

You made a miscalculation in your Lean Body Mass — 125 - 25 = 100 lbs lean body mass.
