Protein Popcorn
Oh how I LOVE my popcorn! Just the other night I was having some popcorn, thinking about how I could add some protein to this little snack. I was wondering how it would taste with protein powder on it, but never tried it.
Ironically, the next day, while thumbing through my Oxygen magazine, I found a recipe for PROTEIN POPCORN! Darn it! Someone had stole my idea!!
I still haven’t tried it, but thought I would pass it on to any popcorn snacker readers and let them try it out for themselves!
Here is recipe from Oxygen magazine:
1 bag low fat single serving popcorn
1 scoop flavored protein powder (chocolate, strawberry)
1 packet natural sweetener (stevia)
No calorie topping spray
1. Prepare popcorn according to directions on bag.
2. Mix protein powder and sweetener.
3. Spray popcorn with topping spray and toss with protein powder mixture.
Give it a try and let us know how it tastes! Got a favorite healthy snack? Send me an email and I’ll post it!

That is a really awesome idea! I would have never, ever thought of adding protein powder to popcorn. I prefer stove-popping mine so as not to get those weird chemicals from the bags and fake butter, but the downside is that it isn’t as flavorful. I bet with flavored protein powder, it would be amazing.

I love this recipe. Popcorn is delicious and easy to make and adding proteins adds nutritional value to a already healthy snack.
I could live on popcorn:) Might just have to try this recipe out sometime!

I am with you Sagan..I LOVE popcorn! I need to get away from the bags though and do air popcorn I think. The butter on the bagged stuff seems to bother my sinuses..weird..I know!

My kids get “the Lunch Lady” for the school lunch program. I have ordered Power Pop for them and they love it. Being an economically minded person, I wanted to know how to make it for myself. Thanks for the recipe. I can’t wait to try it!
