Splenda-The NON Healthy Alternative

splendaI remember back when all the sugar substitutes came out, such as Sweet N Low, Nutra Sweet, Splenda….I used them as they came out learning about how each one was so bad for you! I even remember there was a time when I thought I was going to have to revert back to plain ol’ table sugar, just to avoid all the harmful things that were in all the sweeteners. Right now, my choice is Stevia. I don’t use it very often, but at least I am not putting all the bad stuff of the other sugar substitutes in my body!

JoLynn over at FitShack has a great post talking about all the reasons not to use splenda! It literally surprised AND disgusted me! The fact that this product is still on the market!

Whats your take on the whole alternatives to sugar?

    Hi Angie,

Thanks for recommending my post to your readers! I’m really sad about this because I really thought Splenda was OK.

I’m so upset about it that I started a 3 day mono-diet today (I’ve done this before and blogged about it as another experiment) where I only eat fresh fruits and veggies for 3 days - you could just say I’m eating raw.

It’s a simple way for me to get back to basics & I also haven’t used Splenda since I read the book I wrote about in my post, yuck!!

I stay away from all artifical sweetners, I don’t like how they taste and figure if it causes cancer in lab animals why would a human want to consume it. I always wondered about splenda. Thanks

Good for you Kristen! I just got an email saying Stevia is bad for you too, so I plan to post about that as well!

I guess it is a good idea just to leave it all out!
