The Eat Clean Diet

If you are like me, you have searched and tried all the fat diets, only to be disappointed. Some of them worked while we were doing them and some didn’t work at all. So what’s our alternative?

A CLEAN EATING DIET!

Eat Clean Diet I picked up the Eat-Clean Diet book by Tosca Reno. She is a writer for the “Raise The Bar” column for Oxygen magazine and also has a Eat-Clean Diet Cookbook and Workout Book that she wrote. I sat down and read the entire book in one sitting and it was if I had written the book myself. This book is full of all the ‘clean eating’ tips I tell my training clients over and over. It tells you when to eat and what to eat and which food to avoid. It also has some great meal plans and recipes at the end of the book and stresses the importance of strength training and cardiovascular training.

This is one book that I am going to be requiring my clients to purchase. With this book, their goals will for sure be reachable!

I also plan to pick up the Eat-Clean Diet Cookbook soon! Carmel has it and was reading some of the recipes that are included and they all sound DELICIOUS!

Here is a recipe from one of her books:

Brown Rice Breakfast Burrito

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 cup diced celery
  • 1/4 cup green bell peppers, diced
  • 1/4 cup red bell peppers, diced
  • 1/2 cup scallions, trimmed and chopped
  • 1/2 cup peeled, shredded carrots
  • 3 cups cooked brown rice
  • 10 egg whites + 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup skim milk
  • Cooking spray
  • Sea salt and fresh ground black pepper
  • Warm tortillas
  • Salsa

METHOD
Coat large skillet with cooking spray. Over medium heat sauté vegetables for several minutes. Meanwhile in separate bowl whisk eggs, milk, salt and pepper. Reduce heat to medium low and pour eggs over vegetables. Add cooked rice and stir constantly until eggs set, about 3 minutes. Spoon into warm low-fat tortillas or eat as scrambled eggs. Top with salsa.

Vegetarian option:
Omit eggs and substitute one pound medium tofu, drained and mashed.

Tortilla options:
Many tortillas are quite fatty but there are brown rice options that are suitable for Clean-Eating purposes (and gluten-free diets, too!).

YIELD
