What Keeps You Motivated to Workout?
We all here other people saying how they just don’t have the motivation to workout or get fit. So here are some tips to help you get and stay motivated:
1. Get a workout buddy or support buddy. I have a friend I talk to daily on IM to help keep me motivated and keep me on track with my goals.
2. Set a goal. Set it for one month or 2 months and when you reach that goal, reward yourself with some new clothes or your favorite free meal.
3. Take pictures. Take a picture of yourself in swim suit or shorts and after a couple weeks of workouts, take another picture and compare. It’s a great motivational tool when you see the results!
4. Cut out a motivational picture. Look in magazines or online and choose a body that you want to look like. Hang it on your fridge and look at it every day. If that doesn’t get you working out, nothing will! I still have my picture hanging up and the closer I get to it, the more determined I am to workout even harder!
5. Plan your workouts. When you make a plan to go running or lift some weights, you are more likely to actually DO them. Sit down and plan out a whole weeks worth!
6. Hire a personal trainer. Most the the clients I get say that the reason they have a personal trainer is to provide them support and motivation. They say that having to be accountable to someone and having those 2-3x per week training sessions keep them motivated and determined.

I’ve always had motivation to stay healthy and work out. I guess when you engage in physically activity daily you get a rush of feel good endorphins and for me that does it. Once you feel it you become addicted to it. I get that rush usually when I do intense exercise because there are times when I’m not so hard core and I don’t feel it as much. Another thing that keeps me motivated is the fact that I have a job that requires a lot of sitting and I just have to get up and go at the end of the day and bust my butt. Any kind of stress in my life usually prompts me to get out and hit the pavement because it’s a huge release for me. I guess I look to exercise as a way to cope with a lot in my life. Stress, weight-management, mood, sleep, you name it it’s kind of like a healthy drug if that makes sense. I love the way I look and feel in my clothes and it keeps me wanting more.
